Learn how to identify and forage wild foods like seeds nuts and berries to use for cooking in a wildlife friendly way. You will spend the morning with Susan Simmonds identifying a number of common trees and shrubs based on their seeds, nuts and berries foraging along hedgerows. Discover which fruits and nuts are edible and which are not and how to forage with wildlife in mind. You will also find out how to forage and select wild food for use in preserves and other recipes. At the end of the course Susan will also provide you with recipes for foraged wild foods that you can take home and try out for yourself.

You will spend part of the morning indoors looking at various feathers and dissecting owl pellets to identify the small mammal bones within. Later you will go outside with the group to look for the tracks and signs that wildlife leave and make plaster casts of the tracks. You will discover how to identify the animal that left them and ask those burning questions like, just what is otter spraint and did a water vole make that latrine?

Our autumn tree identification course will give you memorable tips on how to identify our native trees and shrubs. Autumn is a time of change for our wildlife and the transformation of many tree and shrub species can be remarkable. You will be spending the morning outdoors at Harewood Forest near Andover learning identification tips. You will discover how to tell the difference between live tree and shrub species in autumn by learning the distinctive shapes of leaves as well as learning about the different fruits, barks and even the location of the plant. Our autumn tree identification course will give you memorable tips on how to identify our native trees and shrubs.

Autumn is a time of change for our wildlife and the transformation of many tree and shrub species can be remarkable. You will be spending the morning outdoors at Harewood Forest near Andover learning identification tips. You will discover how to tell the difference between live tree and shrub species in autumn by learning the distinctive shapes of leaves as well as learning about the different fruits, barks and even the location of the plant.

Willow domes and tunnels are a fantastic way to naturally enhance the play value of an area. Spend the day at Testwood Lakes and team build a dome and tunnel which can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Learn the basics about:

  • Build your own small living willow construction in a bucket to take home
