Is this course for me?
This course is designed for beginners and improvers in basket making it is an ideal course for anyone wanting to learn a new craft using natural materials.
When and where?
Mondays 19 and 26 February – 10.00am to 2.30pm
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the course
What do I need to bring?
- Suitable clothing and footwear for the weather on both days – please note our osier bed is uneven under foot so sturdy boots are recommended
- Wear old clothes whilst weaving as willow work can be messy.
- Please bring your own packed lunch.
- Secateurs if you have them, but not essential as these can be borrowed on the day.
Hot drinks will be provided on the indoor session
Tracy Standish is an Assistant Education Officer with HIWWT, based at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve. Prior to this she taught environmental education for over eight years for East Dorset District Council, at Moors Valley Country Park. She has been leading willow workshops as both a member of staff and freelance tutor for the past eight years at various locations in Dorset and Hamphire, including Hoburne, Bashley in New Milton, Knoll Gardens and Walford Mill Crafts in Wimborne and Moors Valley Country Park, near Ringwood. Her work includes functional baskets as well as decorative items for the home and garden.
