You can take each course individually or several courses to build your knowledge of different bird species and their habitats. The South Hampshire marshes in May are alive with activity. Spring migration should be in full swing and you are never quite sure what you will see. This coastal visit will be followed with an option to continue, seeing what we can find in the New Forest woodlands looking for those summer visitors in their breeding grounds. You can take each course individually or several courses to build your knowledge of different bird species and their habitats. In the New Forrest Coastline workshop you will be visiting Lymington & Keyhaven Marshes to see the variety of bird species attracted to this habitat at this time of year. The cast has changed on the South Hampshire coast and sea. Winter birds can still linger but migrants will be starting to appear. We may have a chance to see flocks of waders, ducks and geese on the marshes, grebes on the sea.

You will spend the day on a beautiful chalk downland site practising and improving your wild flower identification skills. Through observation, discussion and hands-on use of FSC plant keys and The Francis Rose Wildflower Key book you will practice plant identification in the field. The wild flower identification for improvers course will cover:
- An overview of the chalk downland habitat including what we would expect to see
- Improving wildflower identification skills using various keys and a hand lens
