Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust first and foremost manages land for wildlife. Managing our reserves for the conservation of wildlife and wild places means we sometimes have produce for sale including wood and meat. We also create our Wildlife in Focus Calendar and occasionally have other products we have made such as our Make a Wild Change Trail Pack.

Our cattle are kept for conservation grazing rather than meat production our ethos is conservation first: meat second, however the herd is a productive herd and we occasionally have to reduce our stock levels and have beef, mutton and venison available.

The sale of our meat is important in helping us sustain the funding for our conservation grazing, an essential form of nature reserve management on many of our sites. However, we never force slaughter our animals before they are ready, or remove animals from sites that need grazing in order to produce meat.
